Terms of Service

Welcome to Steppers! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Steppers mobile application ("App") operated by Steppers ("we", "us", or "our"), including related services such as the marketing website at thesteppers.app.
By downloading, installing, or using Steppers, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Steppers. By using the App, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent to use the App.
2. Account Registration
To access certain features, you must create an account using Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In. Guest/anonymous sessions may be available with limited functionality. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
3. Use of the App
Steppers grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to manipulate step counts, leaderboard rankings, quests, battles, or other competitive metrics
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users, including within Rings (groups) or chats
- Upload inappropriate, offensive, or harmful content including profile photos, bios, chat messages, voice notes, food photos, Ring descriptions, or passport-related content
- Abuse the reporting system by submitting false or malicious reports
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the App
- Use automated systems or bots to interact with the App
4. Health, Fitness & Activity Data
With your permission, Steppers may access health and activity data through Apple HealthKit and on-device motion sensors, including steps, active energy/minutes, workouts, distance, weight, and related fitness metrics. This data is used to power App features such as progress tracking, goals, leaderboards, competitions, quests, STEPPED weekly reports, widgets, Live Activities, and health analytics. Steppers is not a medical device and is not intended for diagnosis, treatment, or medical decision-making. We do not sell your health data to third parties.
5. User Content & Profile Features
You may create content such as profile photos, bios, comments, chat messages (including voice messages), food logs and label photos, workout notes, medication reminders you enter, passport check-ins, pinned achievement badges, and shared STEPPED or Cal Report cards ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content but grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute it within the App as needed to operate the service. You are responsible for ensuring your User Content does not violate any laws or third-party rights. Content that violates our community standards may be removed and your account may be suspended.
Profile features including pinned badges, level/XP progress, and head-to-head comparisons display data derived from your in-app activity. You can control what non-friends see on your profile through the Privacy settings.
6. Rings (Group Walking)
Rings are group walking communities within Steppers. By creating or joining a Ring, you agree to:
- Share your step data with other Ring members
- Follow community guidelines and treat other members with respect
- Accept that Ring leaders and co-leaders may manage membership, including the ability to remove members
Ring creators are responsible for moderating their Ring's content and members. We reserve the right to remove Rings that violate these Terms.
7. Chat & Messaging
Steppers may offer direct and group messaging, including text and voice messages. You are solely responsible for the content of your messages. Do not share illegal content, spam, or personal information you are not comfortable disclosing. We may remove messages or suspend accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law.
8. Food, Workouts, Medications & Passport
Optional features may let you log food and nutrition (including scanning labels with the camera), track workouts, log weight, manage personal medication reminders, and use Passport place discovery (which may use device location). These tools are for personal tracking and motivation only. Medication features are not medical advice, and location-based Passport suggestions are provided as-is without guarantee of accuracy or safety of any place.
9. Motivators
The App includes "Motivators" — AI-simulated walking companions with generated step data. Motivators are not real users and are provided solely for motivational purposes. Their step counts are algorithmically generated and do not represent real activity.
10. STEPPED Weekly Reports & Share Cards
STEPPED and similar share cards (such as Cal Reports) are shareable activity or nutrition summaries. When you share a card outside the App, you control where it goes and are responsible for that sharing. Shared cards include only the statistics and labels shown on the card.
11. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
Steppers may offer optional purchases such as the "Steppers+" subscription and consumable tips. All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's terms. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period through your Apple ID subscription settings. Purchases are non-refundable except as required by law or Apple's refund policies.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.
13. Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or secure. Steppers is not a medical device and should not be used for medical purposes. Health, nutrition, and medication information in the App may be incomplete or inaccurate.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
15. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or via email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
